How many people would rather see their favorite sports team leave the state than have taxpayers fund a stadium?

I would. I love my sports teams but am sick of all of them constantly demanding money for new stadiums.

I don’t know how that works but if you ask me, the only time a state should fund a stadium is through loans that get paid back with interest, or getting a substantial amount of the ticket profits allowing them to recoup the loss in a number of years.
There are perfectly fine stadiums being destroyed and new ones built. Sounds a lot like cash for clunkers.
Doesn’t bother me at all, sports serve as away to unite and bring pirde to a community.
I more bothered by all those Methadone clinics in my State that are paid for by taxpayers. If we can afford to build addiction centers (which costs more), we can afford a stadium.
Before I think about cutting Stadiums, I think of many others areas to cut first.
I would as well!
I agree with you. And when someone comes along later and wants to buy the team, they move to another city and your stuck paying on a dead horse. If they reduce the amount of 10 million dollar a year players, they could afford to build their own damn stadium.
Let them leave and quit stealing from us.
There’s talk of our pro hockey team leaving due to lack of revenue, unless taxpayers pony up “assistance” to help them afford to stay. My opinion is that the Bluejackets haven’t done much to earn a loyal fanbase, and their lack of patronage breaks down to bad business dealings and overpriced seats for a mediocre team at best. Just like any other business, they should be allowed to fail or leave if need be. What sucks is that we’ll be stuck with an somewhat new state of the art arena with no high level pro team to support it. That WILL be a waste of taxpayer dollars.
I think ownership should pay for the stadium. Just like here in Atlanta I think Arthur Blank will be pushing for a new stadium for the Falcons. I think it’s absurd and selfish to even ask such a thing. I don’t go to games much anymore because now these big stadiums are built so they can haves luxury boxes to cater to the corporations. It’s not really family friendly anymore. Then they pass the prices down to the fans and the food and parking is outrageous. It’s just ridiculous. Times have really changed from even a mere 10 years ago.
let them go or stay in the old stadium. in houston we tried that and the oilers left all was good and no stadium was built. then they caved in and built one to get the texans in to town. damm had to pony the money any way . these teams need to buy and build their own stadium.
I would and I love my St Louis Cardinals! But hey they are a business and I do not support any tax dollars bailing out or subsidizing private enterprise! God bless
