It is said wine does good to heart. I was wondering if grape , which is the stuff that wine is made of, is also good to heart. Does wine have extra healthy gradients than grape?
Thanks!

  1. Brian says:

From Yale – New Haven Hospital:
“The cardioprotective effect has been attributed to antioxidants present in the skin and seeds of red grapes. ”

So if you’re eating red grapes, you’ll get some of the same health effects. Other effects are specific to certain types of grapes.

There are other studies that red wine helps keep cholesterol and weight down, but that this was specific to wine and not related to the antioxidants in grapes. No follow up studies have been done, so it’s hard to say what the connection is.

  2. Koko says:

Red wine has an antioxidant called resveratrol which is found in the skin and seeds of red grapes, it is not in grape juice
Both red wine and grape juice do contain antioxidants called flavonoids, which have been shown to increase your high-density lipoprotein (HDL, or “good”) cholesterol and lower your risk of clogged arteries (atherosclerosis), and may help lower blood pressure but these studies are not conclusive.
